DIG Personnel & Training Solutions is seeking an experienced Civil Leading Hand to support the delivery of key civil infrastructure works across utilities, drainage and road construction projects.

This role is ideal for a motivated leader who enjoys working on technically challenging projects and guiding crews to deliver high-quality outcomes safely and efficiently.

About the Role

Reporting to the Site Supervisor, you will play a hands-on leadership role coordinating daily site activities and managing crews across active civil work fronts. The project scope includes traffic-controlled works within streets and road corridors, deep excavations, use of shoring systems and the installation of large diameter reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) drainage systems and pits.

You will be responsible for organising labour, plant and materials while ensuring works are delivered safely, on schedule and to specification. Due to the nature of the project alignment through residential streets and public roads, strong communication skills and the ability to engage respectfully with residents, road users and stakeholders will be essential.

This position requires a Leading Hand with proven experience in deep excavation works, trench shoring systems, drainage installation and traffic-managed environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct crews undertaking civil works including large diameter drainage installation, pits, utilities and associated infrastructure
  • Coordinate excavation works, trench support/shoring systems and pipe installation activities
  • Manage traffic-controlled work zones and ensure works are completed safely within road and street environments
  • Coordinate plant, labour and materials to achieve daily and short-term program targets
  • Monitor site productivity and assist in managing progress against project timelines
  • Maintain accurate daily site records and provide clear progress updates to supervisors
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental and quality standards
  • Assist with incident reporting, hazard identification and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain positive communication with residents, local stakeholders and road users impacted by works

About You

  • Trade qualified with strong experience in civil or utilities construction
  • Proven experience working on deep drainage or utilities projects, including large diameter RCP pipe and pit installation
  • Experience working in traffic-controlled road and street environments
  • Strong understanding of trench safety, shoring systems and working around underground services
  • Demonstrated ability to lead crews, prioritise tasks and maintain productivity
  • Confident communicator capable of engaging professionally with residents and the public
  • Basic computer skills for daily reporting and documentation
  • Current Driver’s Licence, First Aid Certificate and White Card (classroom based)
